GCR Builders, LLC responding to a call for our Mold Remediation Service in Alvin, TX. This home was built in the 60’s. It was a brick home with a drywall type sheathing that was severely compromised and damaged by heavy rain from hurricane Harvey.

This was a mold and sheathing problem caused by the heavy Harvey rains and flooding. The best solution was to remove the exterior brick and install a weather barrier and plywood sheathing. The insurance company would not consider that solution because of the cost.

We decided to remove the damaged exterior sheathing and install a new plywood sheathing from the inside. The existing plywood sheathing and studs were cleaned thoroughly with a mold disinfecting agent.

The wall studs and plywood were sealed and encapsulated with multiple coats of an oil base primer. Tyvek was added to give the wall a weather barrier. Then insulation and drywall were installed.
